Error message List

Page Fault
This is an interrupt that occurs when a program requests data that is not currenty in virtual memory. The interrupt triggers the operating system to fetch data from a storage device and load it in to memory.

An invalid page fault of page fault error occurs when the operating system can not find the data at all. This usually happens when the virtual memory area, or the table that maps virtual addresses to real addresses becomes corrupt. The genral fix is to replace the corrupt data with a known good copy.

Floppy disk(s) fail(40)
In the case of the computer having two floppy disk drives, it could be as simple as leaving a floppy disk in "A" drive. If this is not the case, the cable to the floppy disk drive from the motherboard could have come adrift or was attached "back to front". If having checked that neither of these conditions exist, suspect a faulty floppy drive.

Keyboard error or no keyboard present
This error could just be that the keyboard is not plugged in to the back of the computer. This being the case, turn of the computer re-attach the plug and switch on. If the keyboard is properly plugged in and this message comes up, try changing your keyboard first before suspecting socket or motherboard faults.

Non-System or disk error
Replace and press any key when ready

The first possible cause of this message is that the system was switched on with a non bootable floppy in drive A of the computer. To remedy this, simply remove the floppy from drive A and press any key. If this is not the case, well my friend me thinks some one has screwed with thy hard drive.

Unhandled exception system halted
Although this error message can come up for any unhandled exception. This remedy is for those that live in a part of the world where the summer months are hot. If your PC is displaying this message, put your hand on the top of the PC case (system box) the chances are it will be very warm to hot. What is happening is that the system is becomming to hot to operate properly, in short the operating system can not get the hardware to work effectivley so it shuts down. Putting a second case fan that blows cool air into the case may work, putting your system in a better designed case or installing air conditioning in the room your PC is in are your options.

CMOS Battery State Low
This is a startup error mesage and means exactly what it says. The battery that keeps the progammable memory of the CMOS at a non-volitile state is getting flat.

CMOS Checksum Failure
This error can be related the the one above if the battery fails without warning. It is not the only reason for this message, if you are constantly getting this message and have changed the battery for a good one, then you may have to replace the BIOS or motherboard.

CMOS Memory Size Mismatch
This error is not as alarming if you have changed the memory on the motherboard. Just run the BIOS setup and then save and exit, the BIOS will automatically save the detected type and quantity of memory.
