Help Page

These help pages are designed to give the average PC users general directions and fault finding steps to enable them to deal the basic problems of computing. At best the information here may enable them to fix the problem. At worst they will be able to better describe to a computer repairer the details of their PC problem.

To the computer junkie or average technician, you will not see anything new in these pages. If you wish to contribute to this section, please mail us. Owing to who the pages are intended for, the philosophy of KISS (Keep It Short and Simple) when contributing would be appreciated.

Before you start

Before you start, there are a few things that you must check first. You may think that some of these checks would not be needed, but even the experts have missed one or two of them.

  • Make sure that the power lead is plugged in and the power is turned on.
  • Check that all the cables at the back of your computer are securely connected.
  • If you Remember, check for broken or bent pins on re-connection of cables.
  • Ensure that the monitor is plugged in and that it is turned on.
  • Check to make sure that other computer relatated equipment is turned on.
